Bikes Hub
Our Bikes Hub has been the entry point for many Shed members and volunteers, providing practical experience and knowledge whilst equipping them with the skills to perform bike maintenance. Members and volunteers are given the opportunities to practice maintaining their own bikes, help community members repair their bikes, or refurbish donated bikes to raise funds. This service provides affordable bikes and bike repair services to the community.
The Bike Repair area is equipped with all the tools, spare parts and donated bikes to repair flat tyres or overhaul entire bikes from start to finish. Working side by side on practical projects creates opportunities for conversation, connection and learning, supporting positive mental health between our Bikes Hub members and volunteers.
The Bikes Hub has also regularly given back to the community, providing vulnerable community members with much-needed bike donations that serve as their primary mode of transport.
Gear Up! The School Bike Fix Program
The Gear Up program is a hands-on initiative delivered by our resident bike expert, Lou, in partnership with local schools and Wyndham City Council. Supported by VicHealth’s Growing Healthy Communities funding, the program teaches students how to service, repair and restore donated bikes over five weeks. Beyond learning practical mechanical skills, students build confidence, form new friendships, and strengthen their connection with the community.
